Imagine being able to be conscious while you dream. Your dreams would be more vivid and enjoyable to you. Suddenly, you ‘d be able to guide the narrative of your dreams, and wouldn’t be wasting a third of your day completely unconscious.
Now, the reason lucid dreaming is so appealing in the first place, is that beyond the fact that you’re aware that you’re dreaming while you’re dreaming (and are capable of controlling what happens) is that lucid dreaming reduces anxiety and makes you more present.
This can actually help to give you more mental clarity while you’re awake!
That alone makes it worth exploring. The moment that you usually have dreams is during your REM sleep, (or Rapid Eye Movement) which is the deepest stage that you go through while sleeping. This is also important for your health because it’s a moment that your brain can process information and get rid of waste.
You can also journal about your dreams first thing in the morning, or even wake yourself up 5 hours after you’ve fallen asleep in order to document the freshest memories possible.
(Right out of a deep sleep).
While you can do either one, or even both, taking certain nootropics is the best method to have lucid dreams consistently or nearly every night. Below are some lucid dreaming vitamins and supplements that cause vivid dreams.
5-HTP
The H stands for hydroxytryptophan, which is a natural chemical produced by the body. The body releases tryptophan, which becomes serotonin. This is an important neurotransmitter for mood regulation.
Serotonin gets converted into melatonin, which improves your sleep quality and makes you dream better due to the improvement of your REM sleep stage.
This is what increases your lucid dreaming.
Alpha GPC
This neurotransmitter is responsible for extending the time and improving the quality of your REM sleep, which is when you have dreams.
Taking Alpha GPC 5 hours after you’ve been sleeping increases not only your lucid dream experience but also your learning capacity in the morning.
This makes it an excellent supplement to enhance your lucid dream state.
Ashwagandha – A Staple Lucid Dreaming Supplement for Sleep Cycle regulation
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen.
This herb is great for anxiety and can also help with depression caused by the depletion of your serotonin levels. This is another case of your sleep being improved by serotonin.
The serotonin gets converted into melatonin, which is responsible for not only helping you to fall asleep, but also sleep regulation.
You can take it at anytime during the day, but the best time to take ashwagandha is at night before bed.
This means that you don’t wake up at different times throughout the night. This allows your body to relax more, which also induces lucid dreaming!
Calea Zacatechichi
It not only induces lucid dreams, but dreaming in general. This nootropic can increase your recollection of lucid dreams as well.
It makes your dreams more vivid and the imagery seem much more real.
Your dreams will feel more like real life than they normally do. It’s the perfect nootropic for those that want to explore their dreams an a completely different level.
Choline Bitartrate
Choline Bitartrate (or L‑Bitartrate) is a great dream enhancer. This nootropic releases choline in your brain when combined with vitamin B5.
Choline is a neurotransmitter that is associated with learning and memory.
It’s also associated with sleeping and dreaming, which is what we’re focusing on in this article. This nootropic will make your dreams more vivid as well as pleasant. You’ll also be able to remember them much easier.
You just need to take choline bitartrate consistently, and just before falling asleep to start seeing the effects.
Claridream
It also helps you remember your dreams better. Claridream contains:
- Passionflower
- Valerian root
- Chinese club moss (huperzine-a)
- Choline Bitartrate
- Chamomile
It’ll improve the quality of your dreams and sleep in general. It’ll also allow you to remember what you’ve dreamt and become aware that you’re dreaming.
DHEA
In other words, you’ll be able to control what happens in your dreams.
Basically, if you become aware that you’re dreaming in the middle of the experience, you’ll be able to change what’s happening.
Now, this supplement works better when taken as part of a nootropic dream stack. More specifically, it has better results when taken with Choline Bitartrate and Huperzine A.
You’ll have to use the technique of setting up your alarm clock to 5 hours after you first fall asleep.
Then, you take this combination.
DMAE
DMAE is another supplement that can aid your lucid dreaming experience. It’s a natural compound produced by your brain.
It improves your memory and regulates your sleep patterns. This can help create more vivid dreams.
When taken with other supplements, DMAE has increased the number of lucid dreams that people were having. This supplement also helps improve your mental clarity, focus, and concentration, which are reported to also help others have incredibly lucid dreams.
DreamLeaf – A Potent Lucid Dreaming Supplement
DreamLeaf is another combination of potent dream enhancers.
It contains various supplements and nootropics that can increase your chances of having lucid dreams. The tablet in itself increases the vividness of your dreams and your chances of recalling them.
It also improves the quality of your sleep, which helps reduce stress.
DreamLeaf Contains the following Nootropic Ingredients:
- 5-HTP
- Mugwort
- Alpha GPC
- Choline Bitartrate
- Huperzine A (Chinese Club moss)
These ingredients work together to create a powerful dream enhancing nootropic supplement.
Again, this will help induce lucid dreaming and also improve the quality of your sleep. To dream, you need to get to the REM sleep stage, which is the deepest sleep stage.
This also means that you’re getting the rest that your body needs, making it a win-win for night time and day time! You can Buy it Here.
Galantamine
Galantamine helps lucid dreams because it extends your REM sleep stage.
Again, this is when you dream.
It also improves your dream recall, which is an important part of lucid dreaming.
The best way to take this supplement is by using the technique of waking up 5 hours after you’ve first fallen asleep.
It’ll increase the number of dreams you have and improve the quality of them since you’ll have more control over what you dream about.
This is my favorite galantamine supplement currently: Click Here
Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo Biloba should not be your only supplement to induce lucid dreaming, but it can aid you to achieve the results you want.
It’s a powerful memory enhancer, which will help you with recalling your dreams.
Remember, the first step to master lucid dreaming is the ability to remember your dreams.
That’s why journaling about them helps so much. So, taking a memory based nootorpic like Gingko Biloba along with journaling can definitely help you have more vivid dreams.
Huperzine A (Chinese Club Moss)
Huperzine A is another great supplement for lucid dreaming.
It’s known to those that want to improve their memory and learning capacities. Not only that, but Huperzine A inhibits acetylcholine, which boosts your lucid dream experiences.
So, taking Huperzine A will not only help your memory and learning capacity but also boost your lucid dream experiences. *View the top Huperzine A Supplements Here.
LucidEsc
LucidEsc is a supplement designed specifically to help you have more lucid dreams. It’s a bit different as it’s more in the category of lucid dreams pills.
It’s a powerful combination of ingredients that promote the instant improvement of your dreaming and the vividness of them.
This is a great choice for those that want to have lucid dreams, but also for the people that want to improve their quality of sleep overall.
It’s also easier to take since all that you need to take is in one single pill.
Melatonin – One of the Most Well Known Lucid dreaming Supplements!
Does melatonin help lucid dreaming? This is a question I have seen brought up dozens of times. First of all, melatonin is a famous hormone naturally produced by the body.
It’s not exactly responsible for making you fall asleep as people think. It’s actually responsible for regulating your sleep.
It basically tells your body and brain when to go to sleep and when to wake up. It also regulates the density of your sleep stages, including REM sleep.
So… the short answer is Yes! Taking melatonin will increase your lucid dream experiences. You’ll also have more vivid dreams when supplementing with melatonin before bed.
I take melatonin regularly (at least 3 times a week), and it comes in many forms.
It comes in drink powders, gummies, and capsules.
My absolute favorite (when it is in stock) is called “Emergen-zzzz” By the same people that make the vitamin C supplement “Emergen-C”.
I just disolve 1/2 a packet into about 5 oz of water before I go to bed, and I always get a super restful sleep.
Mucuna Pruriens
It also reduces your fear and increases your confidence during the dream state. This is important since anxiety generated by fear is one of the main reasons people wake up during lucid dreams.
So, taking Mucuna Pruriens will enhance the experience of your lucid dreams and give you more control over what happens.
Mugwort – One of the Best All-in-One Lucid Dreaming Supplements!
Mugwort is one of the most complete lucid dreams inducers. It’s an herb that you can use to increase your lucid dream experiences.
It helps you induce lucid dreams, recall them, make them more vivid and colorful, and like other dream enhancing nootropics, increases your control during them.
It’s one of the most powerful lucid dream supplements, and a great choice if you don’t feel like messing with complicated stacks! Just take your 1 serving, and you’re good to go!
You can buy it here and try for yourself.
Peppermint
The best way to fix this is to improve the quality of your sleep, which will induce longer and better sleep stages. That’s what peppermint can do for you.
All you need is caffeine-free peppermint tea before you go to bed. With enough time, you’ll have better dreaming and sleeping experiences.
Valerian Root
One of the main side effects of taking valerian root is more vivid dreams. You’ll actually dream more in general.
Taking valerian root will increase the vividness of your dreams and like other dream supplements I’ve listed here, they will also increase your ability to recall them.
Still, you should make valerian root a part of an overall lucid dream stacke for the best results.
Vitamin B6
This increases your lucid dream experiences.
Now, you need 100 mg of vitamin B6 to achieve this. That’s why you need a supplement since you won’t be able to get this much B6 from food alone. It’s a great addition to any custom lucid dreaming stack.
ZMA (Zinc and Magnesium)
ZMA is a combination of Zinc + Magnesium. These two minerals help you have more vivid and lucid dreams.
It also increases the number of bizarre dreams! Some of my wildest dreams (I mean extremely weird ones) were after I took ZMA just before bed time.
Just be sure to expect to have crazy dreams, and don’t say I didn’t warn you! 🙂
I personally take Met-RX ZMA because its super cheap and effecive!
You simply need to take a ZMA supplement before you go to bed. Within a few days, you’ll start to have more vivid and lucid dreams.
If you’re brand new to lucid dreaming, you may want to try ZMA by itself for the first week or so.
While I personally have only had one dream that was somewhat nightmareish, I would guess that nightmares could be very possible on this stuff, so it’s good to be ready for anything!
This goes for all nootropic / lucid dream stacks and supplements I’ve listed above.
Lucid Dreaming Supplements – Final Thoughts…
Taking lucid dreaming supplements or any nootropic dream stacks can greatly increase your chances of exploring your dreams.
While this comes with many benefits from better sleep, to relieving anxiety and depression, you still need to take a calculated approach before diving in full speed ahead.
Remember, when it comes to ALL nootropics, everyone responds differently to each substance (and amount of each substance), due to our unique body chemistries and physiologies!
(And, this is especially true with lucid dreaming supplements)
But, if you really want to experience lucid dreaming for yourself, taking dream enhancing nootropics is your best bet and/or short cut to get there!
Quick Question…
Are you an experienced lucid dreamer? Have you taken any supplements or combinations of supplements (AKA stacks) to aid in the process?
