Garlic Enema VS Coffee Enema?  Enemas like these have been around for centuries!

Maybe even more than that.  They’re basically liquid solutions made up of beneficial ingredients that can help with ailments like constipation, bowel issues, and even help detoxify your body in many ways. 

All of this is done through the colon, with a simple internal cleansing process that anyone can do themselves with the right knowledge! 

For a long time enemas were more of a thing that people did at home with little scientific evidence.  This is changing, as more and more studies are proving that enemas not only work for constipation, but for multiple other health related issues as well.

Now, when it comes to enemas, two specific types of enemas are gaining a lot of popularity, and naturally people have questions on which one is the best one.

In this article, we’re going to discuss these solutions, as well as the differences between these popular enemas plus more.

Not only the benefits, (and when you should consider using one or the other), but also 6 alternatives at-home enemas that you can do in the privacy of your own home.

But, before we get into all of that, let’s talk about why you need an enema and how to use one properly.

You Need An At-home Enema Kit

You can do an enema at the hospital, but not only is it completely unnecessary for mild bowel issues, but it’s also comes with a hefty hospital bill combined with large side of embarrassment (hold the onions).

All joking aside, that’s why you really just need an at-home enema kit.  Once you learn how to give yourself an enema, you can easily do it by yourself, in the privacy of your home, AND without having to spend a lot of money in the process.

That’s a win-win-win in my book!

What Do I need for an At-Home Enema?

What you’re going to need in order to do an enema at home by yourself, is first a recipe for the solution that you’re going to use, along with an at-home enema kit.

The latter is the most important part. You can buy an enema kit online for a good price.

I have tried only 2 different enema kits, and this one is the one I highly recommend!

A good enema kit will consist of:

 

  1.  A stainless steel bucket – or an enema bag (I definitely prefer the bucket personally)
  2. Medical grade silicone tubing
  3. A silicone enema bulb
  4. Leak-proof and easily washable toxic-free parts

Besides the Enema Kit, you’ll also need:

  1. A cheesecloth
  2. Filtered water (no matter the recipe you use), including the recipes below
  3. And maybe a lubricant. Personal preference here..
    I mean “It wouldn’t hurt!” No pun intended! Or was it? Just kidding 🙂  I’ll be here all week. 

The Proper / Right Way To Perform An At-Home Enema

Once you know how to do an enema at home, it’s not that hard to do it a second time, a third, forth, or even 100th time.

Until then, it can be somewhat difficult, and even a little bit scary or intimidating. 

The secret is knowing precisely what you need to do before getting started.  There’s no reason or need to get this wrong anyways.  You’ve found your way to this article!

Always use Filtered Water!

The first thing that you should always keep in mind is that you must always use filtered water, and be sure that it is lukewarm water.

The reason you MUST use filtered water, is because the chlorine in the water can kill your intestinal flora.

The second one (Why you need to use lukewarm water) is that hot water can actually hurt you to the point that you may even need surgery.

Not cool!

So, make sure that you always pay close attention to the water you’re going to use for the recipe, and that it is at a safe temperature.

Ready to Start: Always Follow Directions From your Enema Kit & Preferrably Get in the Fetal Position

Now, once you have the recipe ready and at the right temperature, you should lie on the floor.

Make sure to follow the instructions that came with your enema kit.

Place the bucket or bag higher than your body. Then, lay down in a fetal position (like how a baby sleeps as shown), lubricate the nozzle of the tube, and insert 2 inches into your rectum.

Never pass 4 inches.

Finally, you should release the clamp. The minute you see the liquid in the enema kit bubbling, you should stop it. 

Once the Enema is inside me, how long should I hold it in?

This is one of the most asked questions for anyone wanting to perform any type of DIY – do it yourself enema. 

You’ll want to stay in the fetal position, and hold in the enema liquid inside your rectum for as long as you can.

Most people aim for 5 or 6 minutes, but can be as much as 10 to even 30 minutes.  It’s best to always consult a physician before trying any at-home enema, but ESPECIALLY if you want to hold your enemas in longer than 5-7 minutes.

Always be on the safe side!

Be Ready to Release / Expel the Enema Liquid Contents!

The final step is to sit on the toilet and release the liquid from your enema just like any bathroom fun time. 

That’s why is always advised to perform your enemas right next to a toilet, ready to go.  No need for any messy accidents.  just know that the urge to go to the bathroom can come on very strong, and very fast.  Pretty much unexpectantly!

There isn’t really a competition when it comes to comparing garlic enema VS coffee enema.

The reason is simple.

They’re both great for different things. You shouldn’t be using them for the same purpose anyways.

For instance, if you need to detox your body and provide a natural cleansing, you will want to lean more towards using a coffee enema.

This is perfect to rid your body of toxins and free radicals.  It has even been proven to be effective in some cancer treatments as well.

Then, you bring the water to a boil to brew the coffee. Once it’s ready, you need to wait for the temperature to cool down.  When it’s lukewarm, you can do your enema.  Don’t perform this enema solution more than 3 times a week, otherwise, you’ll deplete your body from its natural minerals.

The garlic enema is another great solution for you.  Now, this is recommended for people that want to get rid of any viruses, bacteria, and even parasites.

The recipe consists of getting 5 crushed cloves of garlic and let it sit on warm water for about a quarter of an hour.

Alternative Enema #1) Green Tea Enemas!

Green tea is known for its antioxidant properties.

It’s great for the brain since it gets rid of free radicals, which are the #1 enemy of the aging brain.

Green tea enemas are great because it goes straight to your bloodstream, which makes the detoxication that green tea is very well known for, faster and more efficient.

Always Consult Your Doctor First, and Don’t Over-Do it!

Lemon is very acidic and for that reason, you should be very careful.

Don’t do it more than once a week and don’t hold it for long.

Lemon juice enema is great against constipation, regular cleansing, and to balance the ph of the colon.

Just add fresh squeezed organic lemon juice to lukewarm water. Needless to say that you need to be careful with the water’s temperature.

Alternative Enema #3) Herbal Enemas!

Green tea enemas can be considered as an herbal enema, but when we talk about herbal enemas we’re more referring to using a mix of different herbs or just one in particular.

You can use herbs that are used for making tea.

Usually, the goal is to get calming, soothing effects on the colon.

This is great for people that experience unregular bowel movements.

In this type of enema, you’re going to be infusing your gut with good bacteria.

What you need to prepare a probiotic enema are probiotics in powder form, and  once again, lukewarm water.

Remember that the water must also always be filtered (This goes for any and EVERY enema).

Then, you add a 1:2 ratio for probiotics to filtered water. When the solution is dissolved, you can perform the enema.

Alternative Enema #5) Milk And Molasses Enemas

This is the perfect at-home enema for constipation. 

It produces fast results, so make sure that you’re near the bathroom!

The milk and molasses enema is great because the high levels of sugar stimulate the water to infuse the colon.

This means that it intensifies its cleansing effects.

Not only that, but the milk and molasses enema provokes cramps almost immediately.

That’s why it’s a good idea to administer it fast.

So, all you have to do is to use equal proportions of both milk and molasses (in one to one equal parts) for your enema.

It could be 1 cup of milk to 1 cup of molasses for example.

Alternative Enema #6) Acidophilus Probiotic Yoghurt Enemas

This Is a great enema to use alongside the other ones.  When you do enemas, you deplete your intestine of good bacteria.

You need to find a way to replenish the flora.  The acidophilus probiotic yogurt enema is a simple solution that must be held for 10 minutes, so your body can absorb it.

All you need is to use 4 tbsp of acidophilus yogurt to every 2 liters of warm, filtered water.

Coffee Enema VS Garlic Enema Warnings, Risks, And Precautions!

When you do an enema, you’re putting something in your body.

This means that there’s ALWAYS a risk.

The good thing, is that when done correctly, enemas come with very minimal risks.

What you should mostly pay close attention to is the frequency that you do the enema, the solution you’re using, and the water’s temperature.

If you get those right, you shouldn’t have any problems.

I always go by the rule: “don’t do enemas for more than once per week”.

I have known people who swear by performing coffee enemas nearly everyday, but I do not recommend that whatsoever.  You need a balance within your body, just like everything else in life.
